SimCon3 is on!

2nd December 2019

Save the date: SimCon3 will be taking place in Bristol on March 5th and 6th 2020, with SimCon Awards on the evening of the 5th. Get your ticket here!

We outgrew the facilities in our office with SimCon2 so this year have had to change gear. SimCon3 will be taking place at the Aztec Hotel, Bristol, where many of you stayed last year. This gives us lots more space and we don’t need to ration attendance to the same degree!

The format is as before: a lunch time start on the 5th, with dinner, drinks and the SimCon Awards in the evening and an early afternoon finish on the 6th. We again have a special guest to help us along with the awards!

Our Call for Papers is currently out, and we hope to assemble a great mix of speakers from across the community, as well as a healthy mix of Simwood talks. Do please let us know if there are particular topics you’d like to see addressed. We aim to publish the agenda before February.

Now, when it comes to the SimCon Awards, we need your help. You may recall last year, we made the very clear point that these are intended to recognise the unsung heroes of our community and industry. There’s one rule – you cannot nominate yourself! It therefore follows that you cannot buy dinner packages or advertising, and doing so won’t affect your chance of winning. We want these to mean something to those who receive them, especially when those people/businesses/projects are, almost by definition, the kind who are too humble or busy to nominate themselves for other industry awards! We’d love to heard from you if you can make any nominations we should consider. You may also want to watch the video of last year’s event (below) – contrary to what we say on there, live stream viewers ended up well over 500 in addition to those in the room. We want to hit 4 digits this year!

As we’re decamping to a hotel, we’re taking the step of moving to formal ticketing. We’re offering a simple rate which includes the hotel room, all meals at the event, the Awards bar (within reason) and parking. We’re subsidising the event to ensure it is accessible for as many of you as possible, and trying to make it logistically as easy as possible for you. The all-inclusive rate will be £200 (plus VAT) per delegate but we’re offering ‘early bird’ pricing until December 31st of £160 (plus VAT). Those who wish to just turn up to some or all of the event without accommodation, are welcome and the ticket price for that is £100 (plus VAT). Please book a ticket directly, and do it soon to get early bird pricing and weight entry to our raffle!
